It takes after the instruments known as « Stauffer » guitars, produced by C. F. Martin in the 1830s and inspired by the work Austrian luthier Johann Georg Stauffer, under whom he studied prior to emigrating to the United Stated. Most notably, it sports the long, curvated Stauffer headstock with all the tuners aligned on the same side, and comes in a coffin case as did Martin guitars up until the early 20th Century. This guitar was produced in very limited quantities – only 75 were ever made
